engage 2025: Creative Research Crew
How can we find new ways to work together for a better future?
During engage 2025 we explore this question
through
a series of workshops. As the Creative Research Crew, we approach Cool Zuid from different creative
angles, seeking alternative perspectives. We test ways for residents, makers, and doers to collaborate
more effectively.
Each workshop in this series generates material that feeds into the next sessions: from stories and
newspapers, to neighborhood maps and posters. Step by step, we build a collective investigation, with
space for experimentation, imagination, and conversation.
Whether you are a local resident or not, whether you join once or follow the entire program, your
perspective and contribution are valuable! Together we create a multi-voiced picture of the
neighborhood and the ways we can continue to work together in the future.
Workshop Program
Friday 10 October
Recording Audio Stories
PodWalk Making with MAE Heritage Time: 10:00 – 12:30Location: UBIK (upstairs)
Learn podcasting on location: we take professional recording equipment into the streets to collect neighborhood stories and create one collective audio portrait.
Drawing a Subjective Map
Subjective Street Mapping with Emma Verhoeven Time: 13:30 – 14:30Location: WORM UBIK (upstairs)
Together we create visual maps of the neighborhood based on our own observations, intuitions, and interests. No drawing skills required, just your own perspective!
Making a Local Newspaper
Collective Publishing with Mul-thee-fuhngk-shuh-nl Time: 16:00 – 18:00Location: WORM UBIK (upstairs)
Be part of the editorial team of an alternative neighborhood newspaper for 2 hours. We are looking for journalists, visual creators, advertisers, and other curious makers!
Saturday 11 October
Making Future Posters
Speculative Wild Posting with Hannah Kansy and Emma Verhoeven Time: 13:00 – 15:00Location: WORM UBIK (upstairs)
Using hands-on DIY print techniques, we create provocative posters that bring possible futures into the streets. Come speculate, design, print, and paste!
Becoming Weave-Curious
Weave-Curious with AC Art Club Time: 18:00 – 20:00Location: WORM S/ash Gallery
Experiment with weaving techniques and other textile methods! We collaborate, learn from each other, and create a temporary but meaningful encounter around art and textiles.
Talking Craft
Craft for Connection Time: 18:00 – 20:00Location: WORM S/ash Gallery
How can craft serve as a shared language? During two table sessions, you will discuss with others how designers, curators, makers, and neighborhood initiatives can truly connect.
Sunday 12 October
Interactive Brunch
Chaos Supermarket Time: 10:00 – 12:30Location: WORM S/ash Gallery
Through playful eating, we explore how collaboration can emerge around everyday challenges: a brunch full of games, conversation, and cooperation, discovering what happens when we dive into chaos together instead of avoiding it.
Neighborhood Constellation*
Memory Theater Time: 10:00 – 13:30Location: Theater Babel
*only for residents of Cool Zuid
Help create a collective picture of the neighborhood’s relationships. With a system therapist, a theater maker, and an artist, we explore the family constellation method applied to the neighborhood.
Learning to LARP
Playing Cool Zuid Time: 14:00 – 16:00Location: Theater Babel
In this session, we explore LARP (Live Action Role Play) as a tool to create alternative realities together, using the stories, newspapers, maps, and posters from previous sessions as a starting point, with the neighborhood as context.
